What is

The Bridge?

The Bridge is a new holistic spelling-based curriculum designed to support nonspeaking, minimally speaking, and unreliably speaking individuals and the families, professionals, and practitioners who love and work with them.

You will learn practical techniques within a holistic framework that is grounded in neuroscience, motor coaching, regulation, and the ethics of supporting nonspeakers as whole people.

You will discover how spelling-based communication, taught with rigor and respect, opens space for the full intelligence, inner life, and capabilities of nonspeakers (including the abilities we are just beginning to understand).

You will be taught by two respected leaders in the field: a licensed speech-language pathologist and a practitioner/family member of a nonspeaking autistic person, each bringing the kind of depth that comes only from living and working inside this world.

Who it’s for

The Bridge is designed for:

  • Parents and family members of nonspeakers who want to support communication
  • Speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, special education teachers, paraprofessionals, healthcare workers, and other professionals seeking to expand their practice
  • Support workers and care providers
  • Anyone committed to presuming competence and learning respectful, effective ways to support spellers

Whether you’re just beginning to learn about spelling-based communication or you’re an experienced practitioner looking to deepen your skills, The Bridge meets you where you are and guides you forward.
